Talbot House

Have you ever stayed the night at a museum?

Talbot House was founded in 1915 in Poperinge. This small Flemish town became home to the British garrison and quickly grew into a huge metropole referred to as Petit Paris. On the initiative of Padre Tubby Clayton, the huge gentry home of the family Coevoet was transformed into a British club where over half a million soldiers found a home from home.

"An oasis of calm and world gone mad.", that's perhaps the best way to describe the Old House. In the evening, you can catch up with our British wardens around the AGA or enjoy a local beer in our beautiful garden. Who knows which tunes you might get out of our old piano from back then. Your bedroom takes you straight back into history. Every rooms has its own story, told in a free booklet offered to our guests. In the morning, a delicious English breakfast can be served and of course you're welcome to explore the exhibitions. Or maybe you would like to try our Westhoek Picnic with local produce?
