RENOVATION BICYCLE NETWORK
Due to the renovation of the bicycle networks in West Flanders, this cycle route will be unavailable from 1 October 2025 to April 2026.
The first Chinese workers arrived in Poperinge in the summer of 1917. They worked for the British army and remained there until 1920. They lived in separate camps and maintained their own rituals.
They arrived not as soldiers, but as guest workers. They were called upon to build railways, make camouflage nets, maintain tanks and unload ammunition. After the war, they were responsible for clearing the battlefields.
What traces did they leave in Poperinge and the surrounding area? Find out on this cycle tour. Starting on the Poperinge's Grand Place, the route follows the nodes of the Westhoek cycling network. There are some deviations from the network here and there.
