Roesbrugge

The Yser silently sneaks into the Westhoek from across the French border and makes its way through Roesbrugge. This offers one beautiful IJzer panorama after another. Water is therefore the focal point to the village: for canoeing/kayaking or walking along winding country roads and narrow bridges.

This small but fine village on the 'schreve' (border) plays the lead role in numerous exciting smuggling histories. After all, tobacco and alcohol were smuggled across the border here.
