The Couthofbos is located opposite the protected 't Couthof castle. While the castle and the forest next to and behind it remain in noble hands, the Couthofbos was purchased by the Nature and Forest Agency in 2014 and has recently been opened to the public.
Walk the 3.6-kilometre trail at your own pace and follow the red arrows through the historic estate. Informative boards provide more insight into the rich history of the Couthofbos. You can learn about the oldest tree in the Westhoek, the 'motte' and the area's inhabitants, while enjoying the natural splendour and catching a glimpse of the Galge, once the centre of an intriguing maze.
