Hill Country Cycle Route

The Kemmelberg is the highest hill in West Flanders. Some slopes on this route are quite tough. At the top, stunning views await every time. You cycle between vineyards and green quiet spots, between hills and picturesque villages, between brown cafés and bustling meeting places.

World War I is never far away here, including the Bayernwald in Wijtschate from where the Germans could spy on besieged Ypres. In Messines, we climb the Sint-Niklaas tower and enjoy phenomenal views. The Belvédère on the Kemmelberg and the malt tower in Reningelst are also freely accessible. The Heuvelland cycle route is both versatile and varied, taking us to the most unexpected places.
