The Poperinghe New Military Cemetery in Deken de Bolaan was put into use from 27 April 1915 when there was no more space at the nearby Poperinghe Old Military Cemetery.
Originally, the New Military Cemetery was a French cemetery named 'Cimetière Militaire No. 2'. From July 1915, the Cimetière Militaire No. 2 also became a British cemetery and changed its name to 'Poperinghe New Military Cemetery'.
