Beer shop Nevejan
Beer shop Nevejan was one of the founders of two typical Poperinge beers. Kerelsbier, a blond beer of low fermentation with a powerful hop bitterness. After disappearing from the market for a while, the beer has been available in brown and blond versions since the early 1980s. second beer, the Poperings Nunnebier, was initially a carnival joke. Beer shop Nevejan, a Poperinge hop farmer, a café owner and an advertiser organized a press conference and declared that they would release a new beer that would provide a counterweight to the successful Trappist from Westvleteren. The story appeared in all newspapers, but it soon turned out that it was a stunt by a carnival group. However, the demand for the non-existent beer was so great that the joke finally came on the market in June 2007. This golden blond is brewed with Poperinge hops and is an ideal tasting beer. Beer was brewed at this location until 1950. After that, only the beverage trade was continued.
