Ieper was nearly totally destroyed during the Great War. The In Flanders Fields Museum is an interactive and inspiring war museum with a message of peace and understanding. The Last Post Association organizes every evening at 8 p.m. sharp the Last Post ceremony under the Menin Gate, honouring the nearly 55000 victims with no known grave whose names are carved in this impressive monument. In Passendale, 12 000 war casualties are buried at Tyne Cot Cemetery, the biggest WWI cemetery in the world. More info on www.ieper.be
